This week’s edition of Gearbox Community Badass features none other than Gunzerker44! Zerker is a hard-working Borderlands streamer who I’ve personally had the pleasure of playing Borderlands 2 with. You’d think that since we’re co-op buddies and all that it would be easy for me to convince him to be our Badass this week, right? Well, it was tougher than you might think. Not only does he have a popular stream to run, but he also recently became a “Dadzerker”, so time is hard to come by. Luckily, I was able to convince him, so below are a few of my most pressing questions.
How long have you been playing Borderlands?
Nearly since the release of Borderlands 1. My buddy ended up getting it because a girl he liked at the time was saying how great of a game it was. I decided to try it out because he said he liked it a lot and I could not put it down. I was so excited for Borderlands 2, the moment I started it on release day it became one of my favorite games.
I feel like this is a bit of a silly question, but what’s your favorite playable character?
Of course, it’s Salvador! He’s the first character I liked because he is a damage dealing badass tank. As a 6’4″ giant, naturally, I always pick the beefy characters that whoop enemies and ask questions never. Krieg is a very close second though.
Any interesting stories to share from your time on Pandora?
None more interesting than my Terramorphous slap back in to the cage to enter his arena (video below). This happened when I was a new streamer. Since then I’ve put countless hours in, always having an amazing time and trying to make every moment interesting. The game never fails to deliver.
What is it about Borderlands that has you hooked and coming back for more?
There is so much variety and replay value. Everything about it was immensely entertaining the first time and the 800th time. The multiplayer always is a fun experience. Getting together with random people or close friends is always fun and makes me want to keep playing.
How did you get started streaming?
The very first time I watched twitch I stumbled upon some Borderlands streams and made friends with the community including streamers and viewers. I had so much fun watching and talking about gameplay. I was inspired when mitsu said “anybody can stream, I’m proof of that.” That really made me want to try it out and share my love of video games, especially Borderlands, with others.
What are you most looking forward to seeing from Gearbox in the future?
I cannot wait to try Battleborn. I’m also very excited for BL3. I’m looking forward to communicating with community members on new Gearbox games.
